Nature in this area is very conducive to walking in a connected way. Meandering trails through olive groves and varied landscapes help you to switch off the noise and find the stillness inside. Feel the stress melt out of you……

Gentle Hikes:

The undulating hills and mountains in the local Sierras offer hikes for people of all abilities. We take a variety of routes with regular breaks and  picnic stops that allow you to take in the stunning local scenery.

River walking:

Weather! Permitting, we take groups to wade (max knee high) through the clear waters of the Río San Juan allowing you to get close up to unusual birds, turtle, fruit trees and exotic Go with the flow…….

Via a verde del Aceite – The Olive Oil Path:

A historical, now disused, railway line that in the olden days brought the olives to the big towns to be processed. It has been lovingly converted into charming nature trails. Over 100Km long, we walk mindfully and have picnics in various stretches in the vicinity of Alcaudete.

Sierra Ahillos:

Alcaudete is nestled in this small mountain range which forms part of the larger Sierra Sur de Jaén.  A mixture of natural forests and olive groves, it is dotted with both working and abandoned cortijos and isolated farms. It is also home to ancient castles, forts, Roman and Arabic ruins, extraordinary caves, as well as, a rich fauna and flora including wild boars, Griffon vultures, wild asparagus and orchids to name but a few of the many native species. While hiking, all your senses will be stimulated by the spectacular views, the rich aromas and unusual textures encountered along the way

Río San Juan/Las Palomillas/Nacimiento:

The source of the San Juan River can literally be seen bubbling out of the ground and forming crystalline pools a few kilometres from Alcaudete. It is a beautiful spot that has a low-key recreational area which allows bathing/wading in the clear cool water used by people for centuries including the Romans. Further down river, there are lovely spots to river walk and at some times of the year, cross the rapids ! Close to the river there are several interesting hiking routes that take in ancient towers and water mills. Wild turtles live in this unspoilt river.
